Organic Seaweed Dukkah
What Is DukkahDukkah is an Egyptian style condiment consisting of a mixture of Almonds, Hazelnut, and spices. It is typically used as a dip with bread or fresh vegetables, and eaten as a hors d'ouvre.
It can be added to savoury dishes (salads, pasta, pizza, boiled vegetables, etc.) as a last minute ingredient.
The traditional way to enjoy Dukkah, is the following:
Dip freshly baked bread sticks in Extra Virgin Olive Oil (or other Vegetable Oils) and pass it in a bowl full of Dukkah. The taste is delicious, and will whet the appetite.
Algaran Dukkah contains 2 different types of Spices: Cumin (with digestive properties) or Chilli.
Why did Rosaria @ Algaran adopted a traditional Middle East recipe for creating a condiment, adding Seaweed as a substitute for salt?
After years of study about Ancient Ireland and its Legends (being my first job Tour Guide for Italian speaking groups), I always asked myself: are there any
CONNECTIONS BETWEEN EGYPT AND IRELAND?
Apparently it has been proven!
In 1955, Archaeologist Dr. Sean O'Riordan of Trinity College, Dublin, made interesting discoveries during the excavation of the Mound of Hostages at Tara Hill, the famous High King ancient site.
Bronze Age skeletal remains were found of what has been argued to be a prince wearing a rare necklace of mineral beads, coloured with plant extracts, typical Egyptian body decoration found in more famous burial sites, like the Pyramids in Egypt. That necklace, was actually very similar to the one that the mummy of the young Egyptian Pharaon Tutankamon.
Well, if someone brought Egyptian decorations and garments to the Hill of Tara, they might as well have brought traditional food, like Dukkah and Tea.
I love to believe that this can be very true!
